Support coordination is capacity building support that helps you understand and implement your NDIS plan. The ultimate goal of support coordination is to build your capacity to manage your support and maximise your NDIS funding to achieve your set goals so you can live the best lives you can.
Support coordinators often assist you to:
1) Understand your NDIS plan and what support is available to you under current budgets.
2) Find out about your support needs and your preferences of support worker and help you connect with the providers of your preferences.
3) Monitor the quality of support from your different providers
4) Budget and re-budget your fund to fit your support needs.
Psychosocial recovery coach helps you with your goals of recovery, walks alongside you in that journey and helps address barriers that stop you from living a well meaningful life.
Many of the times psychosocial recovery coach does the job of a support coordinator, however, they have coaching element to their role where they help you define your ideas of recovery, set goals and work on ways/strategies/resources for you to achieve these goals. Recovery goals are personal and you are the ones who say what recovery will look like to you, be that you'll be able wake up at a certain time every day, or being able to strike up a conversation with someone. Many people would have goals of taking up a hobby, or completing a project, or even returning to work. The psychosocial recovery coach will be there with you no matter how big, how small, or how different your goal might be.
